Many male crossdressers do not fall into the category of submissives and therefore, the submissive aspect of feminization is not compelling to them. And of this group, the large majority are heterosexual men in fully intimate relationships with heterosexual women who wish to keep their maleness quite intact.

A crossdresser of this type wants to experience the feminine, to don the mantle of womanliness, but they want to do it when, where and how they please. They often long for companionship and information, for acceptance and trust, but they would rather explore the world of the feminine on their own, always under their own control.

Feminization, for this group of crossdressers, is not so much about becoming a woman, but about trying on the feminine, experiencing the feminine intimately with their bodies and their minds, but not necessarily holding total feminization transformation or enforced feminization as their goal.

For this group, there may or may not be a sexual arousal component to crossdressing. It is just as likely to be an intellectual, sensual, emotional, or self-expressive way of being in the world. Or, it may be sometimes sexual, sometimes not.

Learning to use one's male will in order to accept (submit to) his inner feminine can be a contradiction in terms that many crossdressers of this type struggle with. For the crossdressing male who does not identify as submissive, engaging with the feminine is, ironically, more an act of will rather than of surrender. If this describes you, take heart in the fact that this contradiction in terms does not mean you are wrong or misinformed about your desire to crossdress. It simply describes the particularly fascinating and highly individualize male/female dance that is going on within you. So, turn up the music and... dance to your own tune!
